How do you follow through?

End-of-life Coach, Writer, Author & Artist

Many think that you need to have great drive and ambition to do something great.  Like writing that great novel lurking inside you, becoming a master artist, a grand singer that touches the emotions, an awesome chef or anything that speaks to your soul.  But really the ambition is already inside you…waiting.

Let’s make two small changes.  Replace the word “drive” with discipline and the word “ambition” with commitment.  It’s about having discipline to follow through on your commitments.  It’s about having the commitment to making life better by following your path.  Not just making life better for you, but for everyone your life touches.

What most of us really lack is discipline.  The follow through.  We make promises we never keep.  We commit ourselves to something and then for whatever reason, we just stop and break the commitment.  We break our word.

If you make an appointment with your guides, spirit, God, whomever and you commit to sitting down every day they will come.  They will sit with you and help you.  If you show up they will meet you more than halfway.  But the real kicker is that you have to make the first step by making a commitment to yourself and then have the discipline to do it.  If you can’t keep a commitment to yourself then you will not be able to keep a commitment to God either. Because where does God live?  God & Goddess live in us, in our hearts and minds.  If you break your own word to yourself you are breaking it to God as well.

Are you as committed to your family as you are Sunday night football?  Are you as committed to God as you are your boss? Are you as committed to fulfilling you purpose as you are to the latest reality TV show?

The work will get done as long as you are disciplined to do it.  MAKE the time to sit and write each and every day, or paint or whatever.   Drive & ambition or commitment & discipline is a promise to yourself, your future, your committed to your guides, your commitment to God & Goddess.

Can you see that ambition is the desire already present in you to succeed?  And the drive it takes to get there is nothing more than a promise to yourself.  A commitment to be better, to do better.  Discipline is the follow though.  The steps that become habit.  The habit of success and fulfilling your passion.

Anchors Aweigh

Many times in my life I have felt lost—like I had no home.  I belonged nowhere and to no one.  I had no anchor to make me feels safe.  I was unfettered and free.  Which also means that I had no direction to mark my path.  I was at the mercy of the prevailing winds of the cosmos and feeling stuck at the same time.

Yea…I know.  How can you be free and stuck at the same time? I could certainly pick up and go anywhere I wanted at anytime I wanted.  And I didn’t go anywhere at all.  Hence…my stuckness.  And confusion.  And self doubt.  And the list goes on.  I felt alone and unloved.  Not even my guides were helpful.

Then a dear friend and mentor, who was having her own crises, talked to her friend and mentor and she suggested that home, your anchor…the thing or place that makes you feel loved and wanted is not a dot on a map.  Your home, your anchor is in your heart.  You carry it with you.

People will always come and go in your life, no matter where you are.  The forever friends will always be there no matter where you live.  So you might as well be happy with where you live.  But I’m not happy.  I miss rain, tall bushy trees, lakes, the ocean air and mountains.  I miss forests.  I miss really good seafood.  The kind of seafood you can only get at the shore.

My point is: what is keeping you rooted in place?  What is holding you?  What is your anchor?  For most of us it’s family, a need for good schools and a spiritual home.  Our attachments are our anchors.  Make sure what you’re anchored to is really what you desire or you will be pulled under by the weight of your attachments.  The sea of regret will claim you and destroy any hopes and dreams you have left.

Being good to yourself is the best thing you can do for those around you.  If you’re not happy, weigh anchor and go to that place that sings to your heart.  Maybe it’s across country or maybe it’s your back yard.  It doesn’t matter at all as long as your anchor is in your own heart and not in another’s.

‘till next time

I received an email from a friend today about what might be going on in the cosmos.

I think that many of us are having similar issues.  Here is what she asked me.

Is there something going on energy-wise in the Universe these days?  I have been sidelined from almost all “other side” activity I don’t quite know what is going on.  I feel like I am being mired down, and I am having a LOT more ear and chest pain than I ever had before.  The Universe is evidently trying to do something and even The Boss is silent.

Yes, the energies are high and many of us are being sent spinning off kilter. So much is going on as the councils of light are readjusting us and our planet. Light workers are being called to a higher service and being tested at a higher level.  Many are being stripped of our illusions and dragged kicking and screaming out of our comfort zones.  We are questioning ourselves, our path and our motives on a deeper soul level.  Those who are not ready to move to the next level are losing their way and their ability to act.  Some are being taught that true service often means sacrifice and hardship as we move into greater service–even the most basic of material things are falling away.  On an emotional/mental level, we are being reset–rebooted to new thought patterns and new ways of being and doing.  It will seem as if we are somehow different and old friends fall away because they don’t understand us anymore.  They can no longer relate.
On a physical level, old problems may return so they can be dealt with once and for all.  If our bodies are not ready to make the shift if will fight us or let us know we need more work before proceeding.  Do not ignore the mundane and see a doctor if need be, but remember that physical symptoms and conditions are signs of unfinished emotional business and pain that we have stuffed down and swallowed without allowing ourselves to feel and integrate the lesson.
Not to fear dear heart, see a doctor about your chest pain and keep walking in the light.  Do what ever you need to to stay on your path.

Good advice from Mr. George Hutton

A lot of people tend to “mystify” certain concepts that are uncomfortable.
We are all humans, and as such, we’ve got plenty of fears, both built in and learned.
Some fears are helpful, some stand in the way.
Some we acknowledge, others we are terrified of even talking about.
But fears are normal, natural, healthy even. They keep us from making horribly stupid mistakes, like petting tigers, walking off cliffs while texting, or walking up to gorgeous girls (who are standing next to scary looking dudes) and telling them how much we’d like to have sex with them.
People with ZERO fears usually end up dead, or in prison.
One common fear we have is of rejection. We have something we’d like to say, but we’re afraid people won’t accept our ideas like we accept our ideas.
This comes across in metaphysical ideas like the Law of Attraction.
When we say things like, “If you radiate the right energy, the universe will give you what you’re attracting.”
Sounds good, but what the heck is “The Universe”?
When it comes to life on Planet Earth, the universe can ONLY mean “other people.”
It just feels a lot safer to say “radiate what you want and the universe will give you what you’re attracting,” than “Talk to enough people and you’ll find plenty that will help you out.”
When we imagine radiating some metaphysical energy and “the universe” giving us what we want, it seems safe, easy, and risk free.
When we imagine talking to a bunch of people we suddenly get anxious, nervous, and worried.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
One of the reasons it seems to be so scary is because we’re imagining something that simply isn’t there.
Believe it or not, when we imagine asking what we want, or making a suggestion to others, part of us is imagining being a little kid and asking a parent, usually an adult, for what we want and getting rejected.
But the ONLY people in the world that have that much power over you were your parents, and ONLY when you were very young.
That power over you simply doesn’t exist any more.
All those people out there (AKA “The Universe”) can’t hurt or reject you any more than a tree or a pile of bananas.
What’s more, is THEY are all thinking and same thing!
Which means when you make the first move, and show them that it’s safe to talk and interact with others, some AMAZING things will happen.
You’ll find out that you’ve each got something the other person wants.
Making life MUCH more fun and exciting.

Being Aware & Thankful

My friend and mentor #AlauraRaven #Mothershaman recently gave me a challenge, though she didn’t know it.  I bought some special oil for my hair…….yep….the Moroccan stuff.  Might I say it’s awesome, but back to my point.  She told me to put it in my hand and bless it and thank it for making my hair prettier, thicker and for growing more.  It’s the same concept as saying grace and giving thanks for your blessings.  So I’m giving it a good try and I’ll get back to you on that.

My real point is, how often do we miss those opportunities to bless and give thanks?  So when I opened my eyes this morning I decided to start giving thanks for everything I came in contact with.  An awesome bed to sleep in, a warm floor to walk on, hot water to take my shower, shampoo, soap, clean towels, toothpaste, toothbrush, hair mouse, hair dryer, curling iron, hair spray, clean clothes, the washing machine & dryer that made it possible to have clean clothes, good sneakers to put on my feet, food in my fridge & hot tea to sooth my soul.  That was just the first hour of my day.

Someone, many someones, had to make these things that serve me.  So in a very real sense they serve me too.  Farmers had to plant the seeds, water, fertilize and harvest the food I eat.  Someone had to get it to the store, where I could buy it.  There the cashier needed to take my money and bag it up.  It’s the same with every product we have—many hands went into making it available just for me.  So why not send blessings and gratitude backward to all those people that make your life and life style possible.

Morning Prayer

Great Spirit, as l travel through this day be my center, my inspiration, be in every thought and word.

Make sure I spread only love, joy and light.  Make sure that every action I make comes from spirit and not from ego.

Allow me to live as one with you.  Live in my heart so that I may love as unconditionally as you do.  To give your wisdom and healing to all that need.

Let me walk gently through the lives of others and leave them better for my presence.

Aho / Amen
